On the 21st of April, a solemn Saito Goma ceremony will be held to commemorate the passing of Kobo Daishi Kukai.

Participation is free and open.

This is a traditional Shugendo training method carried out outdoors around burning firewood.

The ascetic monks will purify the area through questions and answers and rituals for creating a protective barrier, and then invite the principal image of Acala.

There, prayers are offered for the good health of believers and visitors, protection from disasters, good fortune, bountiful harvests, and more.

This year, we are also planning a fire-walking procession for the first time.
